Beneath My Wing

I am very pleased to share with you the news that my quilt, "Beneath My Wing," was honored in October 2014 with the Master Award for Contemporary Quilting from the International Quilt Association. This was the second time one of my quilts received such a large prize in the "World of Beauty" international competition during Quilt Festival in Houston. "Sally at the Window" garnered the award for me previously, in 2006. I have just received notice that the swans have also won a First Place ribbon for Pictorial Quilts at the Road to California Showcase this past weekend (January 22-25). Thank you, judges! Special thanks to Inge Riis McDonald for allowing me to adapt her photograph, "Peek A Boo," into a quilt.

Applique Away on Galveston Bay

There are only a few spots available for my new two-day workshop, "Storybook Quilts." I'll be teaching the class at the Third Annual 'Applique Away on Galveston Bay.' The workshop will be similar to the pictorial applique workshops I teach now, but we'll use more vibrant fabrics and the projects will have the look of a child's coloring book or storybook. The bunny block above, "Eat Your Carrots!," is the first kit I've developed for the class. Hurry, register today! Karen Kay Buckley, Cathy Van Bruggen and Deborah Tirico will also be teaching their applique techniques at the event on Galveston Island, February 22-26, 2015. Please come join us!

Website design

My new website design was uploaded late last week. See it here: davidtaylorquilts.com. I can't help myself. Just like my fabric stash, I'm always rearranging things. For strange, unexplicable reasons, I also enjoy css and html coding. In this latest incarnation of my website, the photos of the quilts are larger, and by popular request, I've included some detail images of the quilting. My 2015 booking calendar is finalized and up-to-date on the site. I've also added more products to my Online Store. Thanks for clicking!

New Hampshire workshop

Online registration is open for my annual pictorial applique five-day, Autumn workshop. I'll be back in Waterville Valley, New Hampshire, at the Silver Fox Inn, from September 14-19, 2015. If you prefer your own room at the Inn, the cost for the week is $1148.00. Review all the Silver Fox Inn workshop information on my webiste by clicking HERE.
